A hui ho Aloha Airlines...

Looking out an airplane's window...

Yesterday was the last day of Aloha Airlines passenger service. Aloha Cargo is still in operation as they are the only part of the business making money.

Some facts:

- 1,900 employees laid off on 03.31.08
- Many of those employees were couples with families. Now they have no income.
- 61 years of business gone
- So many families left with nothing to do
- Aloha Cargo soon to be bought out
- Hundreds stranded holding Aloha tickets
- Standby offered on Go! and Hawaiian Airlines to Aloha ticket holders
- One of the many signs that Hawaii's economy is in recession

It's been a sad couple days in Hawai`i. My heart goes out to those affected by the recent Aloha Airlines closure.
